As the Event Director for CYC Events, I am asked quite often, what activities are available in our local town of Charlevoix, Michigan. Here is a brief overview for you:
We have a local visitors bureau that has it all compiled for you. Visit Charlevoix lists the top 10 Things to Do, lodging, places to dine and even travel information. Be sure to check it out!
My personal favorites are the local nature preserves that offer beautiful scenery and hiking trails. This can help slow down the mind when we are busy planning an event or a wedding. For Dog Lovers: Most of the preserves also welcome our four-legged family members too! If you need a place that is fenced in to let your dog run around, the City of Charlevoix now offers a dog park about 5 minutes from our venue.
Another personal favorite is visiting local beaches to find Petoskey or Charlevoix stones, riding bicycle or kayaking the Jordan River in East Jordan, MI. We have local rental companies that offer bicycles and kayaks or paddleboards too. In the snowy months, snowshoeing our beautiful forests or skiing at the local ski resorts are quite enjoyable.
If you have time, take your car on the Ironton Ferry to enjoy a scenic drive from Charlevoix to Boyne City along Lake Charlevoix. Beaver Island is also a great 1- or 2-day excursion just off the shores of Charlevoix in Lake Michigan. You can get there by Ferry or Airplane from our local airport. The island offers a remote down-to-earth feel with a quaint downtown.
It's also fun to play tourist in Downtown Charlevoix which has several unique shops, restaurants and sights to see. A splash pad for all ages, bandshell for entertainment in summer months, a marina, Round Lake to name a few.
I love living here and hope you take some time to enjoy all the local sites, tastes and sounds that Charlevoix and its surrounding areas has to offer! You will not be disappointed.
